The Promise and Opportunity of 3D Printing— A Seminar
October 2, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
FreeTo celebrate National Manufacturing Day, SCORE, Fab Lab Hub, the Santa Fe Business Incubator, and Make Santa Fe are hosting a FREE event exploring the promise and opportunity of 3D Printing. From aerospace to healthcare, biotech to consumer products, and art to fashion, additive manufacturing is changing how we make things.
See 3D printers and the products they have manufactured including microfluidic devices, molds for jewelry, functional prototypes, art, prosthetics and more!
You’ll also hear from two leading voices in the additive manufacturing field, John Hornick and Sarah Boisvert, explaining the promise and opportunity of 3D Printing.
John Hornick, is an IP attorney who has followed the development of 3D printing and the impact this technology might have on the world and our lives. John authored the book 3D Printing Will Rock The World in which he discusses how 3D printing will change the way products are designed and manufactured. He outlines how new jobs will be created as a result of 3D printing; jobs that do not exist today. The potential of 3D printing is beyond what many today can visualize but John’s presentation helps us see future potential. His presentation is both educational and entertaining.
Sarah Boisvert has more than 30 years of experience in the design, development and commercialization of high-technology products utilizing digital fabrication including laser machining and 3D printing. She is the author of New Collar Workforce. Ms. Boisvert will discuss how the use of these new technologies can serve as a vehicle to restore the middle class in America via employment opportunities with good paying jobs based on digital technology. The demand for technology-trained workers exists today and will continue to grow across industries as disruptive technologies take hold. This is especially true in manufacturing.
