SUMMARY:Eureka Effect for BioScience Companies
DESCRIPTION:The award winning Eureka Effect returns to the Santa Fe Business Incubator on Tuesday\, August 13th. \nThe Eureka Effect was created by the Santa Fe Business Incubator to help stimulate and foster Eurekas by bringing together small businesses\, startups and scientists from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in fun and thought provoking ways. It takes the form of a speed dating night where small businesses and startups are visited by scientists for 5 minutes at a time. Each business visits with approximately 6 scientists throughout the course of the night. The businesses come away with advice from some of the smartest people on the planet\, a start to the process of receiving between $20\,000 and $40\,000 in technical assistance through LANL and the New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) program at no cost to the business\, plus a whole lot of Eurekas. \nThis Eureka Effect is specifically for BioScience Companies in New Mexico. The Santa Fe Business Incubator has teamed up with the NMSBA to bring BioScience companies the smartest scientists\, the best information on available assistance\, and the most eurekas all within the greatest platonic match making service this side of the Rio Grande. \nIt’s like Speed Dating Only Smarter. It’s the Eureka Effect! \nSpace is limited. Must register by July 29th. Please register HERE. \nFood\, drinks and geniuses are provided free of charge.

SUMMARY:Santa Fe Hackathon aka Code4 with a Twist
DESCRIPTION:Code4 is a community hacknight in the CoWorking space of the Santa Fe Business Incubator. Join us on the second Thursday of every month for some friendly hacking time. Bring your creativity\, a laptop and a friend if you wish. Join a team and see how far you can get building something. Spectators also welcome. \nCome one come all! \nThe problem will be deliberately a little vague\, to allow room for creativity. In other words\, it will be something subject to interpretation\, like “create an app that lets people track their pets.” Except it won’t be that. Or will it? We’ll never tell\, except at 5:30pm on that Thursday.

SUMMARY:Entrepreneur Story Time: Woodruff Scientific & SciVista
DESCRIPTION:So how does a Santa Fe-based physicist accelerate the development of commercial fusion? By building Woodruff Scientific\, where he and his team provide assistance with all stages of scientific innovation: concept design\, engineering design\, procurement\, fabrication\, installation\, testing\, and operations. What they’ve built\, they now offer as products and what they’ve learned to do\, they offer as services. Founder Dr. Simon Woodruff is going to tell us all about it\, including how the scientific computing boot camps he runs each year led to the founding of another one of his ventures\, SciVista\, which provides virtual room sharing so that data scientists can share their ideas in real-time. \nAnd LiAnn Morales and her husband Raul will welcome the KAESF back to their authentic family restaurant\, where they’ve been serving up some of the best and freshest tacos in Santa Fe since opening El Callejon Santa Fe in 2016. \nAs always\, arrive on time to grab a drink to enjoy during story time. And don’t plan to rush off afterwards\, as you’ll want to take some time to schmooze and get to know like-minded Santa Feans just as enthused about supporting our entrepreneur community as you are.

SUMMARY:Entrepreneur Story Time: VIZZIA Technologies
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to hear Andy Halasz\, co-founder and CEO of VIZZIA Technologies\, share how he took his 2005 startup to a leading provider of technology solutions for healthcare organizations nationwide. We’ll hear what it’s like to stick it out with a slow startup\, what drew Andy and VIZZIA from its original home in Atlanta to Santa Fe\, and what it’s like to nearly double revenue over two years and grow from a one-man show to 30-ish employees. For a sneak peek at how Andy and VIZZIA utilized local funding sources to help bring internship and job opportunities to NM\, check out the article\, “Venture Accelerator Fund (VAF) Funding Helped to Fuel VIZZIA Technology’s ‘Internet of Things’ Laboratory.” \nTo hear Andy’s story\, we’ll gather at family-owned Evangelo’s Cocktail Lounge\, my personal favorite place in SF to grab an adult beverage (or 5) and shake it to some live music ‘til the band goes home. If we’re lucky\, we’ll get to hear Evangelo’s son (Nick) or granddaughter (Kiki) share some of the bar’s history and shed light on the meaning of the old photos and memorabilia that make up its unique décor. Teasers: Photos taken by an iconic photographer during World War II led to the USPS putting Evangelo’s face on a stamp in 2002. And if you’ve ever watched the movies “Crazy Heart” or “Only the Brave\,” then you’ve already seen the inside of Evangelo’s (which opened its doors back in 1971). \nYou may want to hit up an ATM on your way as Evangelo’s is a CASH ONLY bar. They also don’t serve food\, but feel free to pick something up around the plaza and bring it in to eat while you enjoy story time. \nAnd don’t plan to rush off afterwards\, as live music will start at 9 PM\, giving us the chance to show Evangelo’s how this group of kick-ass entrepreneurs gets down.
