Entrepreneur Story Time: Madre Foods

February 7, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

  • « Succeeding Together: Conversations for Moving from Blocked to Brilliant
  • SFBI Closed for Presidents Day »

Katelyn Hilburn, creator of the artisanal broths, stocks, and nourishing foods available through her company, Madre Foods, has been kicking ass since coming out as a bizMIX Big $$ Winner in 2017. In 2018, Madre Foods obtained their wholesale license, gained membership as a vendor at the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market, and began to provide snacks to their first wholesale client at Railyard Fitness. In October, Katelyn had the joy of cooking side by side with two other amazing female chefs at UNUM Magazine’s first fundraising community dinner. Madre also hosted broth bar pop ups at local gatherings like String of Lights and local businesses like Bittersweet Designs.

Madre Foods kicked off the New Year as a featured vendor for Squash Blossom Local Food in their subscription bags. And in 2019 they’re excited to put their wholesale license to action, show off their new look, continue to lay bricks for building their brand, and introduce ways to make Madre Foods available to you with greater and greater ease. You’ll begin seeing them at more events around town and more businesses on a routine basis. To learn more before meeting the woman behind the biz, read 12 Questions with Katelyn Hilburn.

For our 1st KAESF of 2019 we’ll gather at La Reina at El Rey Court – a modern take on the traditional New Mexican cantina. Literally meaning “the queen,” (to match El Rey’s meaning of “the king”), La Reina is a laid back, come-as-you are type of place where out-of-towners and locals alike are welcome. Have a drink or two from their agave focused cocktail menu or try one of their carefully selected tequilas or mezcals. If agave isn’t your thing, they’ve got you covered with a great selection of wines, craft beers, sake and spirits.

As always, arrive on time to buy a drink to enjoy during storytime. And don’t plan to rush off afterwards, as you’ll want to take some time to schmooze and get to know like-minded Santa Feans just as enthused about supporting our entrepreneur community as you are.
